Where do you start? Well if you have already played around with a few overall site design ideas, consider the following....

Web Design is more than just making it look artistic. Your site's design should be focused on helping people find answers, take a specific action (subscribing, following a link, or making a purchase), or completing a task. The following are great tips found on Smart Insights:

Ask yourself if your site, meets the following standards?

· Product Are product images appropriate and useful? If so, this should be your first choice.

· People Can you use an authentic image to tell a believable story about people using your product and benefiting from it?

· Quality How can you show that your product is of good, or superior, quality? Can you show the craft, the expertise or the materials that make it great?

· Ethics Are you charitable, ethical, organic, green? Does your business give back to the community? Does it make the world a better place?

Overused staged photography will make your website look dated. Choose realistic images that portray real world and real people.

Some last tips: If you already have an existing site, start by condensing it down, have like 3-4 main tabs on your home page menu. One important tab in today's society is your "About Us" tab. People wan to know who and where they are buying their product from.
